Kinesis is a computer accessory company that I can never say enough good things about. Their focus is on making ergonomic keyboards that let fast typists like me, type as fast as I want or can. (With keyboards like Microsoft’s, I’d be typing faster than the keyboard could keep up – can we say frustrating!)
So yes, I love Kinesis as a product. Oh yes, they are also somewhat pricey (see below on repairs vs. replacement).
Superior Customer Service
This we all know is key to maintaining customer loyalty and it clearly drives recommendations.
My experience with the one thing we all hate (needed repairs, something not working) was also stellar.
I could give a real-life example here, but let me cut off with just saying I was able to email and talk with their technical team at Kinesis; they told me what I (and my local computer people) could do to try and fix the problem locally. Without success, we sent it back to Kinesis and almost instantly (I’m in Europe so we need to add some UPS time), they returned my keyboard – fixed (a set of keys and the related tech needed to be replaced – so special parts).
How to Boost Holiday Sales
Now we get to the feature of this blog – how to boost holiday sales. See the below part of the email I just received (October 27) – great timing before the holiday, whether a retail or business customer.
I don’t think anything needs to be said about it being a good approach to both ‘engaging’ existing customers and – it reminds me to think about friends and business associates who might like to get a new keyboard at a discount.
An Annual Event (and not)
I’ve had my Kinesis keyboard for over 5 years and this is the first time this offer was made. However, another company I love, Pozzani Water Filters (again, I love both the product and the very superior, supportive customer service) also sent me a similar discount offering this past week – see below (they focused on Halloween). Pozzani uses these discount offers once-or-twice a year at different, irregular times – no clear seasonality. I’m always glad to receive them.
Unlike Facebook and other ads, I’d suggest that strong and regular customer contact – especially around holidays – may be one of the best ways to grow a business.
With respect to both of these companies – Kinesis and Pozzani – I like them more because of these offers and contacts.
(As a caveat and for what it is worth, I might mention I also like Crocs shoes, but they send me almost weekly updates and offers; and, to me, this is too much. Instead of liking Crocs more, I think I like them less.)
